Description
A rare opportunity to support female coffee growers in Rwanda! This special honey process coffee was sourced solely from women-owned farms belonging to the Abadatezuka Cooperative in Rwanda’s Western Province. Each contributing female of this special microlot additionally received a quality-focused premium rewarding them specifically for growing exceptional coffee. This coffee is so velvety and winey with tasting notes of lime zest, apricot rose jam, raspberry, and cinnamon graham cracker. We highly recommend for any and all lovers of fruit forward, winey coffees (think a Kenyan profile with a little Rwandan flair.) It’s just a small microlot, so grab some bags while supplies last!
Bzzzz. Aside from the distinction of supporting Rwandan women, this coffee is also said to have a little help from the bees. The native honeybees that live around the Nyungwe Forest (where this coffee is grown) are said to be partly responsible for the unique profile of this coffee. The bee-assisted pollination, fertile soil, and cool lake-affect climate from Lake Kivu all contribute to a classically elegant coffee that is distinctly Rwandan. This coffee is also a honey process coffee (where a certain percentage of coffee cherry mucilage is left intact while the coffee is drying) which lends itself to an ultra-fruity profile.
