JoeFrex – 58mm Tamper CONVEX

All “CONVEX” bases have a slightly convex surface for pressing espresso.

Why convex?

Normally, the surface of the coffee powder pressed into the filter basket does not play a significant role; whether it is flat or concave, there is enough space between the coffee surface and the group head so that the water it dispenses can be evenly distributed over the coffee powder and pass through it evenly. However, if a flat filter is used in the portafilter, or if much more than 7g (for a single cup filter) or 14g (for a double cup filter) is used, the space between the coffee powder and the group head can be too small for optimal water distribution. For this purpose, the Convex Tamper Base can be used, as it leaves a cavity in the middle of the pressed powder, for better water distribution.
