Description
DRUGAR stands for Dry Ugandan Arabica – a natural process method that smallholders across the country have used for generations. It’s a straightforward, traditional-profile coffee with enough fruity sweetness from the natural processing to make it a genuinely useful espresso blend component.
Uganda’s coffee history runs deep – commercial production dates back to the early 1900s, and the country is actually the native home of one Robusta species. Our Drugar is sourced through UGACOF/Sucafina Uganda, who are investing heavily in washing station infrastructure and farmer training, particularly in the west near the Rwenzori Mountains. It’s a less established growing region than the well-known Mount Elgon area to the east, but the quality potential is significant, and the investment in production infrastructure there is ongoing.
